LEAGUE One side Crawley Town have signed former Bury fans’ favourite Brian Jensen.

The 38-year-old stopper, who kept 16 clean sheets in 39 appearances for the Shakers last season, won both the Bury Times and Bury FC player of the season awards.

But he failed to earn a new contract from Bury manager David Flitcroft, and Crawley boss John Gregory was more than happy to snap him up on a one-year deal.

"Brian is still a superb goalkeeper who is in fantastic physical condition," Reds boss Gregory told the BBC.

"He is a real presence in the penalty area and a character who will be great in the dressing room."

Gregory said the Dane will also assume some coaching responsibilities at the club.

"He is keen to carry on the coaching work he started last season at Bury but first and foremost he wants to carry on playing," the 60-year-old said.

"I have spoken to a lot of managers and people in the game about Brian and without exception they have all spoken very highly of him. We're delighted to have him with us."

sorry,to here that the beast has signed for crawley,he would have made
the perfect playing goalkeeping coach.
I only hope that fickers has got a decent keeper in mind because we
certainly need one now.

I normally do not like when the press raises stories about former players, but in this case understanding the love and appreciation we had for "the Beast" I think it quite appropriate.....well done Brian and Good luck at Crawley.

I am sure Flickers has someone in mind.....Huss, come join us!!! We appreciate your skills and loyalty!!! No league 1 for Burton...

I have been more than impressed with our signings so far. I just hope the decision to let Jensen go doesn't end up biting us in the arse.

So The. beast signs for Creepy Crawley, good luck to him.i still have to question the decision makers at our club why we couldn't offer him a 1 year deal and why we couldn't have used his invaluable experience as a goalkeeping coach.

I am staggered that he is not good enough to play for us in league 2 yet will probably be first choice for Crawley.
I wonder how his young family react to the upheaval of moving so far away down in Sussex?.Flits and the board will have someone lined up let's hope it's not Lainton or Reece Cook.
