GONE but not forgotten, what does the future hold for a dozen Wanderers stars out on loan?

Given the massive turnover of players since the start of the season it has been easy to miss the fact an entire starting line-up, plus a substitute, is currently playing elsewhere each weekend.

For some it has been a case of "out of sight, out of mind" and for others simply a chance to gain some valuable experience.

But what happens next for the likes of Jay Spearing, Rob Hall and Medo Kamara – who between them have cost Wanderers close to £3million in transfer fees and wages?

JAY SPEARING – Blackburn Rovers

How he left things – Club captain at the start of the season for Dougie Freedman, the combative midfielder dropped out of contention after Neil Lennon’s arrival. An influential figure in the dressing room and the most expensive signing since the club dropped out of the Premier League at £1.5million.

Has he been a hit? – Seemingly so. Spearing has made 15 appearances for Rovers, scoring once, and looks to be a good fit in Gary Bowyer’s midfield.

Next move – Has two years left on his contract and is undoubtedly an asset. Lennon has not closed the door on Spearing’s return but there are doubts about whether he is mobile enough for his blueprint of a Championship midfielder.

ALEX BAPTISTE – Blackburn Rovers

How he left things – Rather brushed under the carpet after a poor finish to the 2013/14 campaign and shipped out by Dougie Freedman to make room in his budget.

Has he been a hit? – Absolutely. Making 34 appearances and scoring three goals, Bowyer has said he’d “love to keep” the former Blackpool defender.

Next move – Lennon wants to strengthen in defence and will look at Baptiste before writing off the final year of his contract. Could be offered a clean slate at Bolton.

KEITH ANDREWS - MK Dons

How he left things – Never played for Lennon and hasn’t featured for Wanderers since January 2013.

Has he been a hit? – Three times! Well, almost. After a fine season at Brighton and a great start to life at Watford, Andrews found himself bombed out at Vicarage Road. He has since found a sanctuary in League One promotion chasers MK Dons, making five appearances.

Next move – Zero. Some feel the Irish midfielder was harshly treated, others that he was a costly mistake given his age.

ANDY KELLETT – Manchester United

How he left things – Kellett shocked football by becoming a Manchester United player in an exchange deal for Saidy Janko. The full-back had made just one start for the Whites when he linked up with ex-Bolton man Warren Joyce, who is in charge of the Reds’ Under-21s.

Has he been a hit? – Hasn’t played for the first team, predictably, but reports on the Bolton-born defender are encouraging nonetheless.

Next move – Lennon wants to wait until the summer. Both Janko and Kellett are out of contract – so both could conceivably return to the Macron next season.

NIALL MAHER – Blackpool

How he left things – Had been a regular in the development squad but didn't show any signs of breaking through to the seniors.

Has he been a hit? – It has been a mixed bag for the 19-year-old defender. Eight appearances for the Seasiders in a car-crash campaign, including a nightmarish 7-2 defeat against Watford on debut.

Next move – Out of contract in the summer and likely to sign a longer deal at Bloomfield Road.

MEDO KAMARA – Maccabi Haifa

How he left things – Completely frozen out by Lennon, who questioned his fitness, the Sierra Leone international couldn’t wait to get out of the Macron Stadium.

Has he been a hit? – Almost ever-present since moving to Israel, making 12 appearances and scoring once.

Next move – A return is improbable despite having a year left on his contract. Medo's wages make him an expensive reserve. A deal will almost certainly be done this summer.

SANMI ODELUSI – Coventry City

How he left things – Burst on to the scene with two League Cup goals last season, a serious knee injury sidelined him for several months.

Has he been a hit? – Scored on his debut for the Sky Blues against Rochdale in January and has since played 13 times in League One. Looks to have impressed.

Next move – Plenty of time left on his contract but almost certainly facing more time away next season on loan.

LUKE WOODLAND – Oldham Athletic

How he left things – Highly rated around the academy but hadn’t really threatened the senior ranks before leaving for League One.

Has he been a hit? – Yes. Given a glowing recommendation from Latics boss Dean Holden, the young defender has made half-a-dozen appearances since March.

Next move – Out of contract in the summer, Oldham have already made noises to suggest they will sign him permanently next season.

ROB HALL – MK Dons.

How he left things – Made a terrible cameo off the bench at Ipswich, incurring the manager’s wrath, and was loaned out immediately.

Has he been a hit? – Definitely. After scoring a hat-trick against Leyton Orient recently, the former West Ham trainee looks to have found his groove.

Next move – Seemed destined for a big future under Dougie Freedman but doesn’t look like Lennon’s cup of tea. Considering the speed at which he was shipped out to Milton Keynes it seems his time is up at Bolton.

JERMAINE BECKFORD – Preston North End

How he left things – Top scorer last season but hardly a hit, Lennon gave him a big build-up on his arrival but quickly filed him on to the bench.

Has he been a hit? – Absolutely. Twelve goals in 25 appearances in an upwardly-mobile side at PNE, it appears Beckford could be back in the Championship sooner than we thought.

Next move – No Wanderers future. Beckford arrived on a free and cost a king’s ransom in wages. He never produced goals to substantiate the investment, albeit Wanderers never played to his strengths.

TOM EAVES – Bury

How he left things – After a brief window of promise under Dougie Freedman, Eaves’ potential rather withered after a succession of loan spells.

Has he been a hit? – Not exactly. Bury are challenging for the play-offs and Eaves has featured heavily, scoring once in nine appearances. He has struggled to win over the fans at the JD Stadium, though.

Next move – Eaves needs a permanent club – Bury or otherwise – because there is definitely a decent player in there somewhere but his chances of finding a home at Wanderers looks slim to none.

CONOR WILKINSON – Oldham Athletic

How he left things – Given first-team opportunities by Lennon before the arrival of Emile Heskey and Eidur Gudjohnsen, the youngster is clearly rated.

Has he been a hit? – Over two spells at Oldham the Ireland Under-21 international has earned his spurs at Boundary Park, making a combined 17 appearances and scoring three times.

Next move – Lennon likes the look of him – although another loan could be on the cards.
