RYAN Lowe won’t be dancing on Tranmere Rovers’ grave when Bury go to Prenton Park in search of promotion this afternoon.

A cruel twist of fate sees Lowe visit his former club – already relegated to the Conference – looking for a win that could send the Shakers into League One.

Lowe scored the goal that got Bury promoted in 2011 before moving on to Rovers via Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons.

His return last summer did not go down well on the Wirral, with many Rovers fans feeling the striker turned his back on them after relegation to the fourth tier.

It is something Lowe denies to this day and despite being targeted by Tranmere fans when the two clubs met in October – the Liverpudlian insists his focus is squarely on making sure Bury win the game, giving themselves the best opportunity to leapfrog Southend United into third place.

“I’m not going to rub salt into anyone’s wounds, I’m not like that,” Lowe said. “I’ve got a job to do and I’m professional about my job.

“If we win and go up on Saturday then I’ll be celebrating with my team-mates and our fans. It’ll have nothing to do with anyone else.

“I can take the stick, I’m man enough and old enough to do that.

“A lot of people understand the situation why I left Tranmere.

“It wasn’t as if I walked out on them. The club was quick to sell me and take the money.

“I did want to commit my future to them but it wasn’t to be. You have to move on with jobs and footballers move on too.”
