BURY remain in the League One play-off places after bouncing back from last week's loss at Gillingham with a 1-0 win over Burton.

The Shakers took a deserved lead through an own goal by Burton left-back Jerome Binnom-Williams in the 40th minute.

And the Brewers were unable to force an equaliser after the break, which saw them slip one place to fifth, immediately above Bury.

The Shakers made a positive start with Tom Soares and loanee Joe Dodoo, signed from Leicester on Thursday, testing Burton keeper Jon McLaughlin early on.

The visitors replied with Stuart Beavon dinking the ball wide while Abdenasser El Khayati blazed over from John Mousinho's cut-back.

McLaughlin made another save from Dodoo but could do little as the winger hit a low cross against Binnom-Williams, which looped inside the far post.

Tom Pope and Leon Clarke almost doubled Bury's lead at the start of the second half, both seeing close-range efforts blocked on the line.

But Burton hit back with Phil Edwards and Mark Duffy almost beating Daniel Bachmann at his near post, while Callum Reilly fired just over.

Bachmann then parried a rasping strike by Binnom-Williams and El Khayati twice fired over.

Fit-again midfielder Kelvin Etuhu came on for Bury and saw a 20-yard strike tipped onto the bar by McLaughlin, but one goal proved enough for the Shakers.
