BURY's transfer business is now complete, claims boss David Flitcroft as the loan window slams shut at 5pm this afternoon.

The Shakers made a triple swoop of loan signings on Friday, bringing in Southend defender Cian Bolger and Port Vale goalkeeper Chris Neal until the end of the season, as well as Blackburn striker Nathan Delfouneso on a one-month deal.

Flitcroft has been searching for a centre-half since skipper Nathan Cameron was ruled out for the season with a knee injury, and he now has his man in Bolger.

The Bury boss attended Blackburn’s reserve match against Southend last week and snapped up Bolger and Delfouneso off the back of that game.

All three players made their debuts on Saturday against Shrewsbury and are expected to retain their place for the visit to Blackpool tomorrow.

Speaking ahead of the loan window shutting, Flitcroft said: “We are probably done now.

“We enquired when Nathan first got injured but Cian got in the team and played the last 10 games for Southend.

“We were looking at other targets but kept making sure we were in front of that.

“Thankfully we talked about taking points off potential teams that we were playing against so we linked up and got the deal done.

“It has been a long search, there is no doubt about that, but we are delighted to have him on board.

“He (Delfouneso) played in the game on Monday. We had a chat with him there and then, and he expressed a real desire to come and play and get back on the football map.”

Star striker Leon Clarke is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a thigh injury while keeper Rob Lainton has suffered another setback in his recovery.

And Bury were hit with another blow as on-loan keeper Ian Lawlor was called up to the Republic of Ireland under-21s for their games against Italy and Slovenia this weekend.

But Flitcroft has brought in cover to the specialist position with Neal, who is the seventh shot-stopper to don the Shakers jersey this season.

“Leon is probably going to need a couple of weeks out now,” Flitcroft said.

“We know Ian has got international duty, and clearance to go on international duty, so he misses the Easter period.

“We had to act, we had to bring a goalkeeper in. The plan was to play Rob. We were really preparing and building him up for that moment but it’s not going to happen.

“But Chris Neal has got experience, he’s the right age and he's a calming influence.”

However, it may take a bit of time for the Gigg Lane faithful to see the best of the new additions.

Flitcroft said: “I don't think you ever see the best of loan signings until after a few games.

“A lot of the times you are getting these players who are out of the first team. Cian slotted in well because he has been playing regularly in Southend's first team and Chris did.

“The reason we got them in was because of that, they were ready, they were live for action.”
