Bury 0 Gillingham 1

BURY'S impressive home form took a knock as Gillingham became the fourth team this season to claim all three points at Gigg Lane with a narrow 1-0 victory.

In a game where little separated the two sides, Luke Norris fired home midway through the first period to send the Gills back to Kent with a massive play-off chasing boost.

Gillingham had not won away since Boxing Day and after pinball in the Bury penalty area the ball fell fortuitously at the feet of Norris who drove it into the corner from close range in the 27th minute.

The Shakers were dealt a further cruel blow as Danny Mayor withdrew from action on the 29th minute through injury, which adds to the news that Andrew Tutte could be ruled out for up to four week with a hamstring injury.

The hosts had a couple of chances themselves but Ryan Lowe lifted two volleys over the crossbar after evading his marker in the penalty area.

Ryan Jackson came closest to extending the lead in the second period but Chris Neal was equal to his stinging effort as he produced a flying save to his left to tip it around the post.

The Shakers pushed for a late equaliser but Joe Riley and John O'Sullivan lifted half-chances over the crossbar as the pressure failed to pay dividends.
