EXCITING new signing Zeli Ismail cannot wait to get going against Charlton on Saturday as he plans to cement his place on the right of midfield.

The highly confident 22-year-old was brought to Gigg Lane on a free transfer after his contract expired with Wolves.

Flitcroft fought off competition to secure the signature of Ismail, who has registered three goals and three assists in behind-closed-doors friendlies.

After a successful pre-season, the Albanian is looking forward to playing in front of the home fans this weekend.

“I can't wait to play in front of the home fans,” he said. “I've played there (Gigg Lane) before about three or four years ago against them (Bury) and the atmosphere was very good, the boys that are here are fantastic and I can't wait to get going.

“Before I came here I had interest from other clubs but I picked my choice wisely and this is the club I want to kick on from here and get my career going.

“I met the gaffer a few times, I spoke to him. I like his philosophy, I like his style of play. He's a very confident guy and very positive.”

With pace and power in abundance, Ismail is looking to cement his place on the right-hand side of midfield while building a budding partnership with right-back Craig Jones.

The winger was sent out on loan six times while at Molineux, but he is now hoping to get his career back on track with the Shakers.

“Right-midfield is a position I want to nail down,” he said. "It's a bit of a weird one actually because I dribble with my left but I do everything else with my right – shooting, crossing – so I would like to get that position and make it mine.

“I hope I get to build a partnership with Joner because he is absolutely tremendous.

"His energy is fantastic and if he can support me from the back I'll do the rest.

“I don't want to put myself under pressure here but we will just take it as it goes every game.

"Hopefully, if I get a goal every game then so be it, I'll take that, or assists. Anything to help the team.”

Although confident on the pitch, Ismail, along with fellow new signing Nicky Clark, opted out of the squad initiation – a spot of dressing room karaoke.

Former Bolton midfielder Neil Danns blew the room away with a rendition of Kings of Leon, meaning Ismail opted for the fine instead of following on.

He said: "No way did I sing. Me and Nicky Clark took the fine. To be fair, I was going to sing but the standard was unbelievable.

“After I heard Dannzy sing I thought 'no chance, I'll take the fine!'”
