ANDREW Tutte is aiming to help Bury achieve their Championship dream after agreeing a new deal in principle at Gigg Lane.

The dynamic midfielder has made 116 appearances since joining on a free transfer from neighbours Rochdale in January 2014.

However, the former Manchester City youngster has struggled with injuries this campaign – limiting him to only 14 starts.

But after returning to play a big part in the relegation dogfight, Tutte is feeling fighting fit and looking forward to featuring in Lee Clark's future plans, once he completes the formalities of signing a contract extension.

“I love it at the club,” Tutte told the Bury Times. “I have been here for two-and-a-half years and I’ve loved every minute. I want it to carry on.

“It’s very exciting. I have always had an aim to play in the Championship and hopefully I’ll get there with Bury.

“I need a good pre-season and to stay injury free – that’s the most important thing for me now.

“Obviously, I played the last few games and it went well.

"I think I should be over the injury concern now.

"Players have these little blips – I was rushing back too soon, maybe, which is something I’ll learn from.”

Tutte impressed new boss Lee Clark from day one, scoring what was voted the club's goal of the season at Chesterfield in his first game in charge.

The 30-yard strike drew the scores level in a huge relegation clash before George Miller scored the winning goal in stoppage time.

Reflecting on the pivotal strike, which helped to lift the Shakers out of the drop zone, the 26-year-old said: “Chesterfield were a couple of points behind us at the time. It was a six-pointer game and to score a goal like that in that game was delightful.

“It’s nice. Obviously, I have had a frustrating season this year with injuries and it was nice to get the goal to get back into the Chesterfield game.

“Most of the time I try from that far out it usually goes behind the stand, but fortunately that time it went into the top corner.”
