PAUL Wright admits to having a little insider information after correctly identifying names and season (1989/90) of this Bury FC team picture, which was first featured on the Memory Lane page in the April 26 edition.
"It was an easy one for me," he said, "as I was a youth team player in this year, although I have been a keen fan since the 1979/80 season.
"I did like this side a lot. David Lee was my favourite ever player and it was a very attacking side.
"I remember both Bristol clubs got automatic promotion this season, which ended as a bit of an anti-climax for u, losing 2-0 over two legs against Tranmere in the Division Three promotion play-offs, although to be fair they were a good side as well at the time.
"Anyway, the line-up is, back, from left, Gareth Price, Chris Withe, Jamie Hoyland, Tony Cunningham, Steve Elliott, Andy Feeley, Kevin Hulme; middle, Jack Chapman (assistant manager), Ray Pointer (reserve coach), Terry Pashley, Charlie Bishop, Kenny Clements, Simon Farnworth, Peter Valentine, Phil Parkinson, Paul Atkin, Alan Knill, Wilf McGuinness (physiotherapist); front, David Lee, Nigel Greenwood, Andy Hill, Sam Ellis (manager), Mike Walsh (player/coach), Sammy McIlroy and Liam Robinson."
