Bury opened their account after 10 minutes of this North Lancs Division Two match when forward Ben Holland, back in the side after a long absence, brushed the opposition aside to score a try. Matt Hindley added the extras. Holland scored a second unconverted try five minutes later as Bury moved the ball wide and flat, using the pace of the wings.
Full back Dan Jones scored Bury’s third try in the 25th minute when he linked the three-quarter line to score an unconverted try. Scrum half Leo Freschini was to score with five minutes remaining of the period in a solo, unconverted, attempt.
Bury, enjoying a 22-0 lead, began to relax and allowed the visitors to score a try in the dying seconds of the half, which went unconverted.
Two minutes after the break left wing Sam Ware simply outpaced the cover from 40 metres out to score under the post, Hindley converted. Bury again were guilty of sitting back knowing that the game result was not in doubt and allowed Carnforth to score a soft try, which was converted.
However, Ware scored again for Bury in the 20th minute, which was easily converted by Hindley. Five minutes later a tremendous cross field move – involving both back row and three-quarters – saw right wing Dan Scanlon outpace any remaining cover to score under the posts. Hindley again added the extras. Stuart Swinburn scored a debut try to complete the scoring as Bury convincingly swept Carnforth aside.
This Saturday, Bury travel to Eagle, kick off 2.15pm.
