Seve Ballesteros remained in hospital on Saturday, with the results of tests carried out on the golfer expected over the weekend.
The 51-year-old collapsed unconscious at Madrid airport on Monday and was taken to hospital, where he remained in intensive care while doctors conducted brain scans. La Paz hospital released a statement on Friday confirming the Spaniard had suffered "a partial epileptic fit" but said he had left intensive care and was in "a stable condition".
The five-time major winner's family have stopped taking phone calls and it is understood his three children are flying into the capital this weekend to be by his side, amid fears he has a serious illness.
Ballesteros posted a reassuring message on his website during the week, saying he was "awaiting the results of tests" and thanking well-wishers for their support.
However, since then it has been reported the star, who retired last year, is gravely ill.
European Tour players competing in the Madrid Masters across the city would not be drawn on the matter, opting not to comment until a diagnosis had been made.
Jose Maria Olazabal, who was mentored by Ballesteros in his early career, said: "I do not want to talk about Seve until we know more details on what is going on."
Those sentiments were echoed by fellow Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez, who said: "I cannot say anything because I don't know what's going on."
