Anything good to say about Radcliffe?

WHY is it that whenever I read the local papers the stories about Radcliffe get more and more depressing and to me more annoying.

I get so angry. Nothing seems to be going our way. The new school is further away than ever, the re-development of the centre keeps getting pushed back and nothing is going right. It won’t be long before we have nothing left. It’s getting that serious.

It makes me wonder what our elected members are doing about a situation that’s getting worse every few weeks. Their name never seems to be in the news, having their say in this decline.

The situation is really ridiculous when Bury can spend millions on re-development when we can’t even get decent toilets.

And now, to cap it all, I read that they are going to extend the shopping centre roof in Bury. Why, I ask myself? If something doesn’t happen sharpish, Radcliffe will just be a road into Bury. Looking back it all started when Radcliffe and Bury joined together. Bury prospered and Radcliffe and surrounding districts went up the wall.

When I was a lad, Radcliffe was a better shopping centre than Bury, you could get anything. Now you have to think twice about anything.

Radcliffe councillors, wake up, before it’s too late.

I have lived & worked in Radcliffe all my life. I am in my mid-fifties & I completly agree with the previous letter. At the moment there is a nice pedestrian area at the bottom of Blackburn St & now the stupid shopkeepers want to rip it all up to re-open the road. Just say NO to that lousy idea.
Church St West needs to be demolished completely, it 's a total eyesore of cheap tatty shops & derelict properties.
