I am heartily fed up of MPs portraying themselves as victims and innocents.
They explain their misdeeds as ‘administrative errors’ or in the case of David Chaytor, an ‘unforgivable error’. The mortgage was apparently paid off by January 2004 and the ‘unforgivable error’ commenced in September 2005 for 12 months.
David Chaytor has let Bury down. It is annoying to see that he now turns on the media to complain of their role in this affair.
If it hadn’t been for the media interrogating the detail of their lives, MPs would have continued to have had a laugh at our expense with no one being the wiser. The media were doing their job and in this instance, were doing it well.
David should stop using our money to fund himself until the next election so he can devote his time to clearing his name.
Instead he should should be honourable and stand down now and allow us to have our word at last. He might regain a bit of respect.
