I won’t go to tip rubbish I pay to have collected

I disagree with the person who sent in the letter about recycling when there were no bin collections over the recent bad weather.

Why should we recycle and take excess rubbish to the tip!

When we pay for a service we get our bins emptied (grey) weekly, (blue) four-weekly in our area.

In extreme conditons, like bad weather, excess rubbish should be taken on the next available collection dates as, not our fault, the recent weather was bad. We will be doing their job for them in a bit.

If that’s the case we should be reimbursed some monies in our council tax bills, for a service not received.

There is no way I will take rubbish to the tip, when we pay for a refuse service and a recycling service.

My recent problems regarding recycling and Bury Council is making me think long and hard on whether I should bother recycling at all. Bury Council went to huge expense printing out a Rubbish and Recycling calendar and distributing to everybody and it has been a total waste of time. The blue bins on my street should have been emptied on 25th November but weren't and after numerous telephone calls and emails they were finally emptied on 9th December. Due to the severe weather conditions they were not emptied on 23rd December and that I accept. January 20th came and once again they didn't empty the blue bins so I rang the very same day and was promised they would be emptied the next day. After numerous telepone calls and emails by myself, my husband and other residents the bins still have not been emptied despite promises that they would and I finally received a reply to my email advising me that they will now be emptied on 17th February, a whole ten weeks since they were last emptied! I have also asked for a brown bin but have been informed that I am not in a brown bin area! Is this really the service of a 4* council?
