I would like to express my appreciation and thanks to the security team at the new Rock development for their diligent and proportionate response to the sighting of a 68-year-old amateur photographer at Bury’s new shopping complex.

I’m sure that all residents of Bury will sleep more easily at night, reassured that a recognised threat to society, indeed to the stability of world peace, has been prevented from inciting a terrorist attack in Britain’s 62nd biggest shopping centre.

I just hope that, in the interests of national security, the security staff confiscated this pensioner’s camera, and passed his details to the police so that a full investigation into his background and motives can be instigated.

Who knows, he may have intended to pass photographs on to family and friends, some of them linked to Al Qaeda.
