ON reading the state of play on the civic halls I find it amazing that although all four are losing money, the only two with the sword of Damocles hanging above their heads are Bury South’s Longfield Suite and Radcliffe Civic Hall, although they are the two with the least losses.
The major culprits are Bury’s Elizabethan Suite and Ramsbottom Civic Centre which the council are throwing more money at. Could this be to do with the fact that Ramsbottom, North Manor and Tottington all have Conservative councillors in this Tory council?
Ramsbottom also had grants last year for their library whereas Radcliffe are having it suggested that the two should be amalgamated.
