I read with interest that Bury has a new badge of honour as a drugs hotbed, having recorded the most number of drug offences in Bury East than in any other neighborhood in Greater Manchester. Yes, higher than Manchester city and the city of Salford.

I don’t think we can have it both ways. If GMP get stuck in and investigates and arrests these offenders, the figures will rise. We complain often enough when not enough is done or when crimes are under reported.

We ought to welcome this kind of police activity in our neighbourhoods and resist any attempt to cut police numbers locally, otherwise we could lose our badge of honour with serious consequences for all our communities David Jones Retired Whitefield Police Inspector and Unsworth Labour Party Candidate
