THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF BURY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984, SECTION 14(1) (PUBLIC FOOTPATH 8, WHITEFHCLD) TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2018 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury have made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit any pedestrians from proceeding along:-

Public Footpath 8, Whitefield - from the junction with Public Footpath 101, Bury in an easterly direction to the boundary fence of Castlebrook High School playing fields (a distance of approximately 400 metres)
The reason for the proposed order is to protect the public from construction activities on the Castlebrook School site.
The alternative route will be via the remainder of Public Footpath 8, Whitefield, Public Footpath 6, Whitefield, Public Footpath 89, Bury, Restricted Byway 85, Bury, Parr Lane and Public Footpath 101, Bury and vice versa. The Order comes into operation on Friday 16 March 2018 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 6 months, although the anticipated duration of the works is approximately 18 months, and an application will be made to the Secretary of State requesting an extension. A copy of the Order which comes into operation on 26th March 2018, a plan showing the roads and areas affected and a statement of the Council's reasons for making the Order may be inspected at 3 Knowsley Place, Duke Street, Bury BL9 0EJ during normal office hours.
If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within 6 weeks of 26th March 2018 apply to the High Court for that purpose. LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 1972 SECTION 123 (1), (2A) DISPOSAL OF PUBLIC OPEN SPACE LAND FORMING A FOOTPATH BETWEEN MILTON ROAD/BYRON AVENUE AND THE FORMER COLERIDGE AVENUE GARAGE COLONY, RADCLD7FE
Pursuant to section 123 (2A) of the Local Government Act 1972, The Metropolitan Borough of Bury hereby gives notice of its intention to dispose of land forming a footpath between Milton Road/Byron Avenue and the former Coleridge Avenue Garage Colony, Radcliffe (being approximately 156 sq metres). A copy of the plan showing the position of the land in question is available for inspection at the Town Hall, Knowsley Street, Bury, BL9 0SW.
This is a formal notice given insofar as the above described parcel of land consists or forms part of an open space for the purposes of section 123 (2A) of the Local Government Act 1972.
Further information or objections regarding the above should be made in writing and addressed to Paul Aungier of the Property and Asset Management Department, at 3 Knowsley Place, Bury, BL9 0EJ or by email to p.aungier(5).burv.gov.uk to be received by no later than 11 April 2018. The closure is in place to enable maintenance works to be carried out to the footbridge.
