A BRAND new Indian restaurant is hoping to replace an old favourite in the town centre.

Double Tree 93 has opened in Bradshawgate in the last few weeks at the site previously occupied by Laibaz.

Family-run restaurant Double Tree is hoping the venue's smart interior and and impressive menu can spice up Bolton's eating scene.

Earlier this week, they invited The Bolton News to sample some treats from the menu.

Firstly a stack of poppadoms were brought out with a selection of dips - mango chutney, chilli sauce, apple and coriander, lime pickle, and spiced onions, followed by a starter plate featuring seekh kebabs, chicken tikka, lamb tikka and paneer tikka chunks.

While all the meat options were delicious, vegetarian paneer tikka was a real pleasant surprise. For people who have never heard of it, paneer is a fresh cheese.

It is quite similar to halloumi but that does not do it justice and even if you traditionally get just meat, it is definitely worth ordering.

A huge platter of food was brought out for the main course; lamb bhuna, chicken madras, chicken chaat, dal, pilau rice, naan and garlic naan.

The dal was a beautifully creamy vegetarian option, the madras had an abundance of flavour and while spicy, the spice did not mask any of the wonderful taste.

The real stars of the show were the lamb bhuna and the chicken chaat which were both simply stunning. The pilau rice and naan breads provided the perfect accompaniment.

Double Tree 93 has a number of deals including a Sunday special priced at £10.95.
