THIS year marks the 125th anniversary of one of Warrington’s most iconic venues.

The Parr Hall may be closed at the moment, but that is certainly reason to celebrate.

Some of the biggest names in music and comedy have graced the stage from the Rolling Stones to Ken Dodd and Peter Kay to the Stone Roses.

We asked Culture Warrington’s Chris Persoglio to pick out his top five moments. Share yours at newsdesk@guardiangrp.co.uk.

"It’s pretty impossible to pick five of my favourite shows, as I’ve been lucky enough to manage so many amazing nights at Parr Hall, working alongside some fantastic artists.

However, here are a few highlights.

Stone Roses, May 2012

It’s impossible to pick favourites without including this. The event was announced on the day at 4pm and was reported as the hottest ticket of the year. This was their first show in 16 years and a warm up for their Heaton Park sell-out shows. Spending the week working with the band, and also film director Shane Meadows, was an unforgettable experience.

Arctic Monkeys, February 2007

Arctic Monkeys played a surprise gig at the venue the same year they headlined Glastonbury. The date was announced the day before, tickets for the sell-out show were only available directly from the box office from the morning of the concert. I remember going into work late the night before and people were already queuing in the car park.

Peter Kay, September 2002

Warrington Guardian: Review: Peter Kay @ Arena, Manchester

This was Peter’s first national stand up tour following on from the hugely successful series Phoenix Nights. I have been lucky enough to work with Peter on many shows since and he always puts on a great stand-up show.

Beady Eye, June 2012

Liam Gallagher’s band Beady Eye played a warm up show at the venue. It was a very special gig as the band included Oasis songs in their set for the first time.

Lenny Kravitz, 1990

I attended this gig before I worked at the venue and it’s one of my best memories of watching a show there as a customer.
