A BOLTON comic could be to the rescue for television viewers after Charlie Brooker's show fails to make its festive outing.

Diane Morgan is to step into the gap left after the satirist and broadcaster cancelled his annual Wipe of the year.

The show is a popular part of the television schedule but, despite being on the cards for the end of year BBC line-up, Brooker revealed he was behind on the scripts.

However, in a series of tweets he revealed that Morgan would return to the screen as Philomena Cunk.

Cunk on Britain, a five-part history of the nation, will be coming to BBC soon.
