Over Hulton Folk Club

FOLK Band Merry Hell will be playing an acoustic set as part of Over Hulton Folk Club.

The Wigan eight-piece features three of the Kettle brothers from 90s band Tansad.

They are described as a “joyous folk-rock explosion of melody, commitment, energy and above all, songs that will stay with you long after listening.”

Merry Hell will be supported on the night by singer/songwriter and good friend of the band - Corrie Shelley.

The show will take place at Over Hulton Conservative Club, in St Helens Road, on Wednesday evening.

It will run from 7.30m to approximately 11pm.

Classic panto with a twist

A NEW interpretation of a classic tale is being brought to life in pantomime.

Mark Daniel Productions’ version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears features Goldilocks and the three bears trying to save a circus from the hands of the evil Sir Basil Bottomburper.

It will run at Bolton Little Theatre from Wednesday to Sunday, with shows starting at 7pm.

Matinees will also be available on Saturday and Sunday.

Try your hand at barbershop

Bury Times:

AWARD-WINNING barbershop group the Cottontown Chorus have put out a casting call.

They are looking for men of all ages who can “hold a note”. Previous performing experience and the ability to read music is not required.

If you think you have what it takes, then head down to Turton High School Arts Theatre on Tuesday, at 7.30pm.

A treat for the ladies

Bury Times:

IF you are looking for an early Valentine’s Day treat, the Village Spa at Last Drop are having ladies night, this Thursday.

Costing £69, it consists of a glass of prosecco in the relaxation lounge to start, two 25-minute treatments, use of the spa’s facilities, and use of robe, towel and slippers.

You can also upgrade the experience with a jug of mulled wine for an extra £20.

Something arty for the little ones

IF YOU have a small one into arts and crafts then the Creation Station may be the place for you.

Every Tuesday, from 10.30am at Chew Moor Methodist Church, the ‘Baby Discover’ and ‘Little Explorer’ classes welcome children aged from five months to five years.
