FATHER’S Day is just 10 days away — time to hit the shops. This year, let’s try to use our imagination, shall we?

Body-swerve those ties and socks, and instead discover some more exciting gifts and watch that smile spread over dad’s face when he unwraps your well-chosen present...

At The Rock in Bury, shopkeepers are gearing up for busy times in the run up to Father’s Day.

The choice of presents big and small is endless, so we have enlisted the help of some top retail experts to showcase the most delightful dad-gifts around.

Kirsten Sacco is a personal shopper at Debenhams — remember her name if you ever need a hand with picking a present — and she has rounded up her best buys for cool dads of all ages.

“If Dad needs a hand to get on trend, one of the looks for summer is graphic T-shirts,” she said.

“Mantarary has some great ones featuring vintage cars for £25.

“Dad will also stay stylish at work with a funky laptop bag, such as our John Rocha real leather design which is £115.

“For the cool factor, our remote controlled cars are so much fun — choose between a £40 Aston Martin or a Lamborghini for the ultimate boy racer’s toy.”

Jacamo’s brand manager, Lucy Dobson, believes the store has “some of the coolest clothes in Bury” including some big name brands – think a Flintoff check shirt for £40 or a Ben Sherman dressing gown, priced £35.

There’s also 10 per cent off selected items for Father’s Day.

If Superdry is more up dad’s street, then there are some accessories he might appreciate, such as a wallet which will set you back £29.99 or, for a bigger spend, there’s a watch, priced £99.99.

For something completely different, buy an unusual scented gift he’ll love.

Why not make like James Bond with 007 Ocean Royale?

A £20 set includes eau de toilette and shower gel available from The Perfume Shop. Trust us, it will earn you lots of brownie points.

manager Jo Driver said: “What man doesn't dream of being James Bond and if your dad can’t be England’s legendary spy, at least he can get the scent of Bond with this light new summer fragrance.”
