The Conservatives have won the Ramsbottom by-election with a 365 vote majority.

Robert Hodkinson has now been elected as one of Ramsbottom's three Councillors and taken the seat from Labour.

He was previously pipped to the post in 2011 after lots were drawn following a dead heat with Labour's Joanne Columbine, whose resignation triggered the by-election.

The Tories won with 1,398 votes, Labour came second with 1033, UKIP came third with 351, the Green Party came in fourth with 157 and the Liberal Democrats in last with 38 votes.

Turnout was 32.56%, in comparison with 35% in 2012, 43% in 2011 and 69% in 2010, which was a General Election year when turnout usually rises.
