A HEADTEACHER has rejected claims that her Prestwich school has banned boys from gathering in groups of three or more.

A Facebook poster who said she is the mother of St Monica’s High School pupil made the claim on the Prestwich People group.

The post says: “(Pupils are) punished if more than a group of three boys are together. Should they generalise all boys, as I understand girls can be in groups? Are any other schools like this? Some of this is over the top and so frustrating."

In response, headteacher Andrea Letcher said: “I can confirm this is not a school policy."

Speaking hypothetically, she added: "However, it would be appropriate for teachers to tell pupils that, if they congregated in large numbers in a public space, residents would feel intimidated and would more than likely contact the police, who would come to disperse them."
