A BURY restaurant has cooked up a winning recipe and scooped national title The Best Chinese Restaurant in the UK.

THE Chinese Buffet on The Rock took first place in a competition by national business support and marketing organisation thebestof. It is awarded annually and based on the largest numbers of reviews collected from customers by restaurants across the country. THE Chinese Buffet beat the competition with reviews collected through thebestofbury , gaining more than any other.

The win is particularly satisfying for THE Chinese Buffet restaurant chain because, for the previous four years, this particular award was won by THE Chinese Buffet in Bridge Street, Bolton, thanks to reviews collected through thebestofbolton.

The chain was started by co-founders Peter Wu, Paolo Hu and David Hu in Bolton in 2006. They went on to open restaurants in Blackpool, Huddersfield, Halifax, Preston, St Helens, Wakefield, Wigan and Wrexham.

They opened the Bury restaurant – their 10th – in 2014 and have found national success once more. Mr Peter Wu commented: “We are ecstatic to have won again this year. This has only been possible with the hard work and commitment of all our staff and the support of our tens of thousands of loyal guests.

“We will continue to strive to do better and deliver the best dining experience to all of our guests.”

The restaurant group currently employs more than 300 staff across the North-west, and with new jobs being regularly created. It currently operates a centralised kitchen facility and new big production line in Wigan which serves all the restaurants to maintain the quality and consistency of the food.

Added Mr Wu: “THE Chinese Buffet menu is an eclectic blend of Chinese food using only the finest ingredients, freshly prepared and presented to the highest standards. THE Chinese Buffet believes all their customers should receive the care, attention and quality they would expect from the finest of a la carte restaurants.”

He said that the chain placed great emphasis on training and on providing “an outstanding customer experience”, which Mr Wu felt had resulted in their success in the national competition.
