A NEW home decor and gift shop has opened in Ramsbottom.

Hearts for Homes recently opened at 53, Bolton Street, with a champagne and cupcake launch.

42-year-old Kerry Khan decided on a career change after working in finance and as a community nurse in Bury.

She said: "I decided to try something new and exciting, whilst combining my love of interior design and art."

The mum of three is currently studying for an interior design qualification and in recent years she has developed a love for painting, designing and creating handcrafted items ranging from acrylic canvas paintings and upcycled furniture to crafting textiles and glitter art.

The former Castlebrook High School pupil added: "I have a great passion for handcrafted products that the crafter puts so much of their own heart into and works so hard to create. The time and energy that goes into such items is immense and I love sourcing new products made by such passionate individuals."

The first customer through the doors was Alison Mulrooney and she received a bouquet of flowers to celebrate the opening.

The shop specialises in handmade items that are made with love, care and attention and also more contemporary items to add character to homes.

Mrs Khan said: "It was a great opening weekend, the sun was shining and we have had great support from the people of Ramsbottom and other businesses in the area."
