A BLACK panther was reportedly spotted in Radcliffe on Wednesday.
Police confirmed that they were called to Bury New Road just before 2.30pm to reports of a 'panther' chasing deer.
The man who had called the police said that he had seen a 'large black cat' chasing a deer off Bury New Road heading towards Somerton Road, Breightmet.
Officers attended the scene but couldn't find anything.
GMP Whitefield tweeted later in the day: "Report at 2pm today of 'panther' chasing a deer on Bury New Road Radcliffe towards Somerton Road Breightmet. Patrol attended but no big cat."
While GMP Radcliffe Twitter account sent out a tweet later which said: "Remember to check your doors and windows before you go to bed. We wouldn't like you to be a victim of burglars or black panthers.#security"
