BUSINESSWOMAN Michaela Wain impressed Lord Sugar with her negotiating skills in the first episode of The Apprentice last night.

The construction company director, who lives in Heaton, told Lord Sugar how her two businesses have a turnover of £3 million.

When he asked why she was there, Michaela replied: “I’m from Bolton, I live in Bolton, I’m not Karren Brady.”

During the first task, The Apprentices had to create their own burgers to sell wholesale to retailers, as well as cooked patties to the public.

Michaela, aged 33, came into her own while buying the meat for their products by using her negotiating skills to drive down the price of chicken for the girls’ team.

Michaela and her family threw a party to watch the first episode, although she admits that she had to re-watch the episode again the following morning.

“It was just so strange, and it was so weird seeing everyone else on screen as well who I’d been working with. Every time I came on screen everyone was just screaming so I couldn’t hear what was going on! I had to watch it again the next morning.”

Miss Wain, a mum-of-one, is a director of construction company Optimise Build Group based in Crown Street.

Michaela admitted she was 'beyond relieved' to have won the task and not have to go back into the boardroom.

She said: "I was so surprised when we won. I almost cried because I just thought I cannot go back in that boardroom.

"It was such a difficult task because we were woken up at 2am, working for about 18 hours and everyone was still trying to find themselves and what everyone was good at."

Michaela's stint on The Apprentice is not her family's first experience of reality TV. In 2015, her brother Joshua Ritchie starred in ITV2's Love Island and he went on to appear on MTV's Ex On The Beach.
