AUDIENCES have the chance to see an emotional performance of modern classic Goodnight Mr Tom.

Young Haslingden actor Henry Farmer, who played Michael in the touring production of Billy Elliot, is back on stage for the Summerseat Players' take on Michelle Magorian’s play.

Set during the build up to the Second World War, the play follows young William Beech who is evacuated to the English countryside to live with an elderly recluse, Tom Oakley.

The Summerseat Players' production is on at the Theatre Royal in Ramsbottom until Saturday (18).

Year 8 pupil at Haslingden High School, Henry, will play William's friend, Zach, in the production, while William's role will be shared by Joshua Ord and Joshua Parker.

Mr Oakley, played by Bob Howell, and William form an unlikely but heart-warming bond as pieces of William's troubled life in London are revealed.

The show, directed by Peter Larkin, debuted last Thursday, with the last shows on Saturday.

A charity performance took place last Friday, with all proceeds going to Bury Samaritans.
