A MAN has been arrested in connection with attempted murder after a shooting which left the victim in a critical condition.

The 33-year-old, from Whitefield, remains in custody for questioning on suspicion of the offence.

Three masked mean arrived at the home of John Louden, in Glebelands Road, Prestwich, on the evening of Monday, November 27.

They initially retreated but returned about an hour later, when they broke in through the back of the property.

The gang were met by 49-year-old Mr Louden on the stairs and fired a shotgun at him at close range, before fleeing in the direction of Poppythorn Road.

Police were called to reports that a man had been shot in Glebelands Road shortly before 8.40pm

The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Cadden of GMP’s Bury borough, said: “While we’ve made an arrest, our investigation into how this situation unfolded continues.

“We are still following a number of lines of enquiry and are asking the public’s help in sharing any detail that could prove vital to our investigation.

“If you were around Glebelands Road or Poppythorn Road between 6.30pm and 8.30pm on Monday evening, or have information that could help us identify who this trio are, please get in touch.”
