FIVE people have now been arrested in connection a shooting that left a man fighting for his life.

Three masked men forced their way into 49-year-old John Louden's home, in Glebelands Road Prestwich, where he was shot in the stomach with a shotgun.

After firing the gun at close range, they fled the house heading towards Poppythorn Lane.

The man was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Four men, aged 20,22,24 and 30 have all been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody for questioning.

A 33-year-old man from Whitefield who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released on bail until the end of December.

Police were called to the address at about 8.40pm on Monday, November 27 and understand the trio had gone to the house earlier, retrated, and returned to carry out the attack.

Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Cadden of GMP’s Bury borough, said: “This is the fifth arrest we’ve made in this investigation, but our enquiries are not stopping here.

“Dedicated officers have been following a number of lines of enquiry in order to find the people who are responsible for this attack.

“The men arrived in a white Fiat 500 car, so we’d ask anyone who may have seen either the car, or the trio of men, in the area last Monday evening, to please get in touch.

“Our investigation is now running into a second week, which is why we need the public’s help in sharing any detail, no matter how small, with police at the earliest possible opportunity.”
