WITH the arrival of Santa Claus just a few weeks away, toy shops have been stocking up on the items most likely to make Christmas wish lists.

Smyths Toys Superstores — which has branches in Bolton, Bury and Oldham — has revealed the toy it believes everyone wants to find under the tree on December 25.

A miniature droid that resembles a Jedi training device has been hailed as the toy of the season ahead of the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi film on Thursday.

The Jedi Training Remote, made by the award-winning British inventors at Wow! Stuff, encourages fans to use the 'power of the Force' to control the propeller-powered droid and train for combat.

Buyer Laura Molloy said: "It has proven to be a really fantastic way for fans of all ages to recreate iconic scenes from the films.

"It uses simulated sting beams and 'Force' control to operate and sales are tremendous. We have stock for now but we know that hot lines have a habit of selling out quickly before Christmas, so we will do everything we can to ensure we don’t disappoint anyone coming through our door in finding one!"

Since its launch last month, Jedi Training Remote sales have been off to a flying start.

Based on the original device seen in Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it is suitable for adults and children aged eight years and over, and retails at £29.99.
