REPRESENTATIVES of the local armed forces and staff at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust came together to remember those who have served Queen and country, past and present.

A ‘raising of the flag’ ceremony was held within the grounds of Royal Bolton Hospital on Monday.

The Trust officially marked its support for servicemen and women and paid tribute to those who lost their lives in conflict with a special service led by the Trust Chaplaincy Team.

Trust chief executive Dr Jackie Bene OBE was among those attending the ceremony.

Mike Gallagher is a senior resuscitation officer and is the trust’s NHS Armed Forces Champion. He visits veterans on the ward and directs them to financial support. He said: “It is very important to remember those who gave so greatly for us in a number of conflicts which have taken place. ‘Lest we forget’.”

The trust has a number of members of staff from across the many different areas of the hospital from IT to general medicine who have given their time and dedication to serving with the Armed Forces.

Armed Forces Week is held nationally and culminates with Armed Forces Day which takes place on Saturday 30th June.
