FIVE Bolton students tried out teaching - as part of their work experience.

The group gained valuable insight into the teaching profession during their work experience in The Olive School in Blackburn.

The students from Eden Boys’ School helped the school succeed in the Lancashire Youth Games at Stanley Park in Blackpool by encouraging and motivating the youngsters.

They helped train the cricket team and helped look after them during the day.

Hayley Walsh, Director of Leadership Specialism, at The Olive School, said: “The boys were a real asset to us on the day of the Lancashire Youth Games. Our young pupils looked up to them and they behaved as the perfect role models. Between matches they spent time practising with our team and were great at keeping them motivated. It was good to see them grow in confidence as the day went on too.

“Finally, the moment had come where The Olive School cricketers were now in the semi-finals! The boys cheered and clapped edging the students to play to the best of their abilities. Amazingly the day finally came to the end and all the hard work had confirmed an astonishing third place position.

"Well done, The Olive School, and keep thriving!”

Bilal Solicitor, a Year 10 pupil at Eden Boys’ School, commented: “Our time at The Olive School was sensational because it provided us an experience which we may not find anywhere else. I really enjoyed interacting with the pupils.”
