DOZENS of cyclists are set to take to the streets of Bury under the cover of darkness as part of Bury Clarion Women’s night ride event.

It is the second time the club have held the event, which will take place across the night of Saturday, September 22, and aims to raise money for Bury Hospice, as well as celebrating 100 years of women having the vote.

Riders will be able to choose between two separate routes around the borough’s roads - a 30-mile one and a 60-mile one.

No sponsorship is required to take part unless riders choose to do so for their own chosen causes.

Female riders travelled from as far as Birmingham and Cumbria to participate in last year’s event.

Bury Clarion say they have experienced a huge increase in female members over the past 2 years, something they hope will continue.

The group meets every Friday at Bury FC’s Gigg Lane home.

Tickets to the night ride are £12, and include snacks, drinks and full support from Bury Clarions experienced riders.
