CANON Slade were the dominant force once again at the Bolton athletics championships, winning all four age groups.

The clean sweep is nothing new for the Bradshaw school who have lifted the town team titles at every age group three times in the last seven years.

Canon Slade had 18 Bolton champions in all, including Ben To who set a new Year 10 Bolton record for 100 metres with a stunning time of 11.12secs.

The competition was held on different afternoons for different age groups at the Leverhulme Park running track, the home of Bolton United Harriers.

Canon Slade emerged as winners across the board in both boys' and girls' competitions at every age group from Year 7 to 10.

In the boys’ competition, they had three Year 7 champions – Andrew Okwechime in the 200m, Matthew Russell in the 1500m and George Jones in the shot.

At Year 8, Zac Walmsley won the 800m title and Chris Djambi took the triple jump crown.

Year 9 Jake Milne won the 800m, and in Year 10 Gabriel Glynn was shot champion.

In the girls’ competitions, Melissa Fletcher won the Year 7 high jump event and Millie Bayman became 1500m champion in the same age group.

At Year 8, Eva Baldwin won the high jump competition and Saskia Phillips leapt to the town title in the long jump.

In the Year 9 competition Canon Slade had a quartet of town champions – Ameila Bratt in the 300m, Ella Pendlebury in the 800m, Anna Potter in the 1500m and Abigail Adeniji in the high jump.

Year 10 athlete Penny Townsend was a double winner, finishing first in the 300m and long jump, and Rebecca Pollitt won the 1500m in the same age group.
