A CARE firm has been given the go-ahead to set up a new mental health centre.

Dignity in Life Ltd is to convert a seven-bedroom house of multiple occupancy (HMO) in Great Lever into a ‘respite and rehabilitation’ unit for patients.

The proposals were signed off by Bolton Council planning chiefs this week.

The facility, in Bradford Avenue, will provide 24-hour accommodation for seven people as well as a room for staff.

A decision notice issued by planners said: “This facility will make a small but positive contribution to healthcare provision in the area by maximising access.

“The land use and planning impacts are not likely to be significantly different from the existing seven bedroom house in multiple occupancy. Therefore, insufficient harm has been found to outweigh the benefits of the scheme in terms of healthcare provision and employment.”

The Bolton-based firm aims to help people with mental health issues become more independent in their daily lives by providing round-the-clock care to service users.
