AN investigation is under way after a suspected arson attack on a flat in Radcliffe.
Firefighters were called to the fire at a property, in Gingham Park, shortly after 4am this morning.
Crews from Whitefield, Farnworth and Bolton North were in attendance.
A number of people had managed to escape from the ground floor flat before firefighters arrived.
It is not believed anyone was injured, but considerable damage has been caused to parts of the flat.
Police officers and the fire service are at the scene investigating this morning.
One resident said: "I saw the flames and the firemen through the window.
"I hope everyone is OK, she is only a young girl that lives there."
James Cheverton, watch manager at Whitefield Fire Station, said: "We were called to the flat at 4.02am.
"It has been badly fire damaged in the hallway and smoke damaged to the rest of the house.
"We used breathing apparatus and a hose reel, and used a fan to ventilate it afterwards."
