HAVE you got any military memorabilia or historical artefacts from the First World War?

Residents are being invited to hunt out any such items of historical value for ITV’s Granada Reports WWI Roadshow which will be rolling into Bury Market next week.

To mark the centenary of the end of the First World War, Granada reporter Paul Crone and his team of historical experts and camera crew will be on hand to examine the items for a special ITV television programme.

Mr Crone and his team are look for anyone with photos and medals of loved ones who fought, died or survived the Great War between 1914 to 1918 to come to the market and share their mementos and stories.

Andrew Heyes, Bury Markets manager said:“We are delighted to welcome Granada Reports to the market and to support this road show.

“Bury has a great military tradition and this is a fantastic opportunity for us to recognise the contribution made by those who fought on our behalf a hundred years ago.

“And don’t worry if you haven’t got exact information, we will have specialists Sarah Stevenson and Phil Mather with us from the nearby Fusilier Museum to help solve any 100-year-old mysteries.”

Filming for the programme will take place in an open section of the market where special gazebos will be erected from 9am on October 17.

Mr Crone said, ‘We are so excited to come to Bury Market and meet people whose relatives from our region fought so bravely in France, Belgium and beyond.

“We are so grateful to Andrew Heyes and his team for helping us with our one-off roadshow. We’ve no idea how many people will come along, or the stories they may have but that’s half the excitement of it all.”
