A GREENMOUNT woman has fulfilled a lifelong ambition after taking over a popular bridal shop.

Wendy Young has reopened Lacy Days of Ramsbottom, in Bridge Street, after its previous owner, Julie Walker, retired recently.

The former nurse says running her own bridal business has been a dream of hers since she was a young girl. However, it is only now that she has followed her ambition following a series of life traumas, including getting divorced from her long-term partner, and the death of her best friend.

After starting a new relationship with someone she had known since school, tragedy struck again. Just two years into their relationship, her new partner, Paul, died. And months later, she also lost her dad.

Ms Young said: “When I lost Paul, it made me rethink my life and I felt I needed a new focus. By chance, I met with a friend and on discussing my dream with her, she told me to contact Lacy Days as she knew she was thinking of retiring.”

The rest is history, and after carrying out a refurbishment with the help of friends and family, Ms Young reopened the shop to the public on Saturday, October 6.

She added: “I would like to think the loved ones I have lost would be proud of what I have achieved. If I have learnt anything from these hard times, it’s that we have to grab life by both hands and live it to the full.”
