FOR the third consecutive year, a popular Radcliffe takeaway has been shortlisted as one of the best of its kind in the country.

Grilled Hotspot in Outwood Road has been named as one of five regional finalists in the British Takeaway Awards (BTAs), run in association with Just Eat.

The family-run restaurant, which serves burgers, kebabs, pizza, and chicken, has made it to the top after receiving the most public votes, specifically for its burgers.

Owner Ghulam Mustafa said: "We really appreciate our customers and staff who have voted for us and put us forward for this award. They are fantastic.

"We were named as a finalist last year and we are going to try again to become number one.

"We pride ourselves on our good service, good communication with the customers and, of course, good food. We have not changed any recipes. People like it and they keep coming back."

Grilled Hotspot which opened in 2014 has a 5.5 star rating on Just Eat, out of a possible six, with more than 7,300 reviews.

Owners have been invited to a star-studded awards ceremony where they will go up against five other finalists in a bid to be named the North West’s best takeaway.

The other competitors are TJ’s Dessert Bar in Cheshire, J’s Chicken & Pizza in Manchester, Brunch in Whiston and Safia’s Dream Desserts in Leyland.

To determine the region’s winner, each of the finalists will now be marked on a mystery shop, and will provide a written submission on why they deserve to win.

A panel of judges, including former Dragon’s Den star Sarah Willingham and UK managing director of Just Eat Graham Corfield, will review the results and identify the 12 regional winners and the overall best takeaway in Britain.

Mr Corfield said: “Making it to the list of the top five takeaways in the North West is a great achievement as it means customers believe they are providing great food and excellent customer service.

“With competition at such a high, it’s going to be a difficult choice picking a worthy winner.“

The awards, taking place for the third consecutive year, recognise the small and often family-run businesses that work tirelessly to serve the nation. The region’s winners will receive £1,000 and free sign up to Just Eat, or have their sign-up fee returned if they are already a member. The winner of the Best Takeaway Award will receive a further £5,000.

The awards ceremony will take place at The Savoy, London, on November 12.
