TONIGHT we look forward to welcoming all our finalists & guests to the fourth Pride of Bury Awards at The Village Hotel.

Five years ago we talked about the idea of holding Awards to recognise our local heroes across Bury - typically a true hero doesn’t shout about it but just cracks on.

We started planning a launch but then my amazing boy deteriorated and plans were put on hold.

Now, The Pride of Bury Awards are held in Josh’s Legacy celebrating local heroes in 14 categories.

It’s probably one of my proudest achievements that, with the help of our awesome team and sponsors, we are able to help recognise and celebrate some truly special people.

Award sponsor Mark Rybcynski, Director of Rehab for Independence ”The Pride of Bury Awards is hugely important to us at Rehab for Independence and is a fantastic legacy to Josh’s memory, we appreciate the chance to get involved in such a brilliant awards event. The awards are nominated and voted for by the local community and this means that everyday people making a difference in their own communities get recognised and rewarded. We are proud to once again sponsor the Teen Hero Award as well as the toast drinks for the awards evening. Good luck all you finalists!”

Ben Ryan, Dad to Layla a Finalist and winner last year told us “Layla was nominated last year for the Brave Hero award and we were invited to attend the awards ceremony, what a fantastic event it was! An amazing evening in a beautifully decorated venue, with fantastic food and entertainment, surrounded by so many inspirational people. Layla was over the moon at winning her award and we couldn’t have been more proud of her. A truly overwhelming experience, I am in awe of the organisers for their hard work and determination, and for putting in so much effort to recognise and reward the people of Bury for their outstanding achievements.”

Team Member Helen McGuirk “I’ll always remember the very first time Dawn spoke about the idea of Pride of Bury. ..and to see the hard work and determination she and the team have put in since then is incredible, inspiring and admirable. The stories and journeys we’ve been able to hear and celebrate on these nights is beyond words. Roll on Friday when yet again everyones hard work comes together.... for an evening of positivity, inspiration and recognition for Bury’s finest.

In a world where negativity could easily suck people in, this evening is so needed. I simply LOVE Pride of Bury Awards!”

The Awards are always held the week before Josh’s Anniversary, which will be year on the 3rd November.

Josh touches and helps people in so many ways. It’s a heartbreaking but incredible journey he’s left me on.

I am just so proud to be his Mum.
