HEATON Park attracted thousands of people to its grounds as it hosted one of Greater Manchester's largest firework displays on Bonfire Night.

Visitors watched on as an effigy of Guy Fawkes was burnt on the stake when the bonfire was lit at 7.30pm to launch the evening.

Then families gathered round to enjoy the spectacular firework show, which was accompanied by music — this year chosen by residents.

The popular funfair also returned for the event.

The Bury Times asked residents to send in their best photographs from Bonfire Night.

Danny Dunkiert, who plays for Bury RUFC Ladies, attended the display with her children. During their visit she captured this stunning photo of the display on her phone.

She said: "The event was great. There was plenty for people to do and the accompanying music really made the whole display come alive. My children especially loved the fire jugglers."
