MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 12 weeks after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman a woman in Bury and damaging a car on October 25.

Alan Sheen, aged 45, of no fixed address, was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim or going to Railway Terrace, Bury.

A MOTORIST has been banned from holding a driving licence for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Manchester magistrates heard how Mohammed Perwaiz, aged 39, of Bradford Street, Bolton, was caught behind the wheel of a VW Golf in Water Street, Radcliffe on September 15.

He was fined £184 plus £115 in costs and charges.

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 100 hours of unpaid work after he admitted assaulting a woman in Bury on October 29.

Craig Mellor, aged 55, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for two years.

As well as the unpaid work he must participate in a building better relationships programme for 30 days and pay £150 compensation to his victim plus £200 in costs and charges.

A restraining order was made banning him from contacting the woman or going to Central Avenue, Bury.

A SHOPLIFTER has been sentenced to six weeks in prison after he stole a jacket, worth £40 from Sports Direct and tried to steal another jacket, worth £80 from JD Sports, on June 6.

Oliver McNab, aged 29, of Manchester Old Road, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offences and having silver foil in connection with theft.

A MAN who damaged trees and shrubs, worth £200, on May 17, has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months by Manchester magistrates after admitting his guilt.

Gary O’Brien, aged 49, of Ringley Road West, Radciffe, was also ordered to pay £200 in compensation plus £105 in costs and charges.

AT MANCHESTER Magistrates’ Court Matthew Cox, aged 33, of Chestnut Avenue, Bury, admitted assault and threatening behaviour on November 1.

He was sentenced to do 40 hours unpaid work and he must also participate in a better relationships programme and attend 10 days of rehabilitation activities.

The court ordered him to pay £170 in costs and charges and made a restraining order banning him from contacting his victim or going to Pembroke Drive, Bury.
