A ROW has erupted over the use of the former Brandlesholme library.

The space is currently shared between the Brandlesholme People’s Voice community group and Bury2gether, a forum for parents of children with special educational needs and disabilities, following the library’s closure last year.

Plans have now been made to expand Bury2gether’s disabled toilet and make it wheelchair accessible — funded by Bury Council.

However the People’s Voice claim they were promised a new kitchen facility by the council, without which they fear they may have to close down.

Donna Tinker from Brandlesholme People’s Voice said: “We are a community group in a deprived area, so this is the prime location for a community group."

She added: "We would have to close down because you can’t run a community centre without a kitchen.”

Talks are understood to be ongoing between the three parties to find a solution to the dispute which will be mutually acceptable to all those involved.
