A KAYAKER was rescued from the River Roch this morning after losing his paddle.
Fire crews were called to the incident at the rear of Openshaw Park at 6.38am.
The Bury Times understands that a man who was on a kayak lost his paddle and called emergency services for assistance.
A water rescue team from Heywood attended the incident alongside paramedics.
Three fire engines from Bury and Whitefield also attended armed with a rescue boat.
The man was led to safety from the river and paramedics at the scene attended to him.
He was reported to be conscious and breathing.
