TWO people were taken to hospital after a collision at a major junction.
The incident left two cars heavily damaged and both drivers had to be cut out of their vehicles by firefighters using specialist equipment.
Crews from Bolton North and Bolton Central fire stations arrived at the scene around 1.30pm today after reports that both vehicles had collided with a wall.
They were joined by police and ambulance personnel who rushed the two women who had been driving the cars to hospital.
The collision took place at the junction between Higher Ainsworth Road and Bury and Bolton Road in Ainsworth.
The road is now open.
