A BURY-based dog kennels is celebrating after winning a national award.

Pawprints Kennels, which is based at Pike Farm, in Nangreaves, picked up the 'Best Kennels' award at the Dog Friendly Awards last month.

The competition rewards the public's favourite dog friendly places and businesses across the UK.

While Pawprints owners' Gareth and Anjuli Kershaw were unable to attend the ceremony at The ExCel Centre, in London, because of a family illness, they did manage to watch it on Facebook Live from their kitchen.

Following the victory, Mr Kershaw said: "Not for one minute did we believe we were going to win, so, as you could imagine, when our names were read out we almost hit the ceiling with excitement and pride!

"We would like to thank all of our current and previous clients and their wonderful dogs for your support, and of course this is extended to our wonderful team who make our kennels the fabulous place that it is in order to look after your beloved pets.

"We simply couldn't do it without you."
