Wingates Brass Band is hosting a Christmas concert at the Victoria Hall in Bolton on December 8.

The band have just finished a busy period due the centenary of the First World War, and they’re about to embark on a series of concerts throughout December in the local area.

The upcoming Victoria Hall Concert on Saturday 8th December begins at 7.30pm, and Wingates will be performing alongside The Three Town Operatics Society.

On Saturday, November 3 the band played at Blackrod Community Centre, as part of their series of events commemorating and celebrating the centenary anniversary of the end of the Great War.

The band were also at Astley Bridge on Sunday 11th November, where they led the Remembrance Day parade.

Melanie McFarland, the band’s Marketing Manager, said “Although we are a charity ourselves, Wingates Band has given a lot of its time recently to the local community.

“We would now be grateful if the community would come and support us in return at our annual christmas concert in Bolton. We have reduced the entrance fee this year to allow as many people as possible to come and see the area’s premier brass band”

The Wingates Band was formed in 1873 and has competed in multiple competitions since it’s inception.

Members of the Wingates Band Supporters Club will have free access to the event. Tickets are £5 and children under 12 are free.

Other events throughout December include a concert at St. John’s Church on the 13th December and playing carols in Over Hulton on the 17th December.

The band will also be selling their Grand Prize Draw tickets on the evening too. These are priced at £3 each or 2 for £5 and the top prize is a £250 meal voucher for La Scala Restaurant, Chorley Road, Westhoughton.
